Curtis Jerrells and Kevin Rogers both chipped in 16 points and six rebounds for the Bears (11-1), while Henry Dugat finished with 11 points, five boards and five assists.

Dominic Waters registered 18 points to pace the Vikings (10-4), who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Phil Nelson had 16 points with eight rebounds and Jamie Jones added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The clubs traded baskets throughout most of the first half before Baylor took command of the contest in the final minutes and carried a 14-point lead to the break.

After a Waters jumper closed the gap to 24-22 with 6 1/2 minutes remaining, Dunn drained a three-pointer to cap an 11-0 Baylor run, and Jerrells knocked down a trey at the buzzer to give the home team a 43-29 advantage at halftime.

The Bears scored 12 of the first 14 points in the second half and a fastbreak dunk by Dugat pushed the margin to 60-34 less than seven minutes into the frame.

Portland State, which earned national attention after topping a highly-ranked Gonzaga squad on Tuesday, made a late surge and a Jones deuce whittled the deficit to 73-61 with 2:22 remaining, but Baylor held on down the stretch.

Monday's tilt marked the first-ever meeting between Portland State and Baylor on the hardwood...The Bears shot 50.9 percent (29-of-57) from the floor compared to Portland State, which made 42.6 percent (26-of-61) of its shots...The Vikings held a slim 35-34 edge on the glass.
